About the Artist

Amy has had an interest in art since the fifth grade and has drawn extensively all her life. She has worked in watercolor since the late 1980’s simply because she loves the look of the medium, in particular the ability to use clear, clean colors. Her teachers in watercolor have included Pete Winklbauer of St. Mary’s, Ruth Kempner of State College, Perry Winkler of Penfield, and Cindy Rabold of Altoona. In addition to hoping that others simply like her art, Amy’s work aims to evoke a feeling or something one can relate to or even a memory, “Hopefully a pleasant one!” she adds. She maintains that a person should always try new things, that experimentation and learning is most important. Amy is a current member of Art in Common of Altoona and Susquehanna River Arts Council of Clearfield. Her work has appeared in juried shows of the Clearfield Art Studio/Theatre, Blair County Arts Festival, Indiana New Growth Festival and the Gamble Mills Gallery in Bellefonte. Amy has also been chosen by juror three consecutive years for the County National Bank Calender in which she received Best of Show in 1996.
