About the Artist


Born and raised in the picturesque mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania, Ray has been involved in art most of his life. His first loves were landscapes and flowers for over fifty years, and has worked in all different media; watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, charcoal, etc. In trying to reproduce his artwork on a computer, he was eventually drawn into the newest frontier in art: digital art. He could see the potential of this medium, not only to enhance scenes of the natural world, but also to create the depth and illusion of space. At first, Ray’s concentration was on nature and was able to produce award winning landscapes. Then, his horizons expanded and he began creating abstracts of space that draw their color and design from the theories of cosmology. This provided a wide range of artistic possibilities; String Theory, different types of space fabric, parallel universes, worm holes, black holes, rotating solar systems, approaching nebulas, etc. Through digital art, Ray is still exploring many dimensions of our existence, the wonders of our creation, and where we are going as part of an expanding universe.
