About the Artist


For almost sixty years, Sue has experimented with and mastered the art of oil painting. Aside from her formal education in Fine Arts, she enjoys walking around with a camera, capturing anything in nature or her surroundings that sparks her interest enough to want to paint it. She uses these photos as a source of inspiration for her art work, and swears she must have at least 20,000 photos by now! Her pieces range from beautiful landscapes to detailed portrayals of people. Although she has also worked in pastels, watercolors, and woodcuts, oil painting is her primary medium mainly because as an artist, Sue favors the creative process of painting, looking and thinking in order to achieve a picture as opposed to a mechanical process. Sue also teaches one-on-one oil painting classes with students two nights a week.
